The first flight of Cargolux Airlines InternationalS.A. (Luxembourg) successfully arrived at Astana International Airport on June 1, 2026. The resumptionof flights by one of Europe’s leading cargo carriers toKazakhstan demonstrates the country’s continuedprogress in strengthening its position as a strategictransportation and logistics hub of Eurasia.
Prior to the launch of operations, the airline andKazMunayGas-Aero LLP (a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas) signed an agreement for into-planerefueling services, ensuring uninterrupted servicing offlights at Astana International Airport.
The implementation of this initiative is in line withthe instructions of the Head of State aimed atdeveloping the country’s transit potential andestablishing Kazakhstan as a leading regional aviationhub. The launch of these flights became possiblethrough the joint efforts of the Government of theRepublic of Kazakhstan, the national companyKazMunayGas, and representatives of the aviationsector to expand the international route network, develop aviation infrastructure, and enhance thecompetitiveness of Kazakhstan’s airports.
The successful resumption of Cargolux flights alsodemonstrates the attractiveness of Kazakhstan’saviation market for international carriers. Anotheradvantage of Kazakhstan’s aviation market is thecompetitive conditions it offers to internationalcarriers. Kazakhstan continues to maintain some of thelowest aviation fuel prices in Central Asia, contributingto the growth of transit, technical, and cargo flightsthrough the country’s airports.
