Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG) Askhat Khassenov held a meeting with Chairman of the Board of the Vietnamese company Sovico Group Nguyen Thanh Hung in Astana on 9th September.
Last August, during the official visit of the Head of State to Vietnam, a memorandum of understanding was signed between KMG and Sovico Group. The document opened the door for cooperation in geological exploration, aviation fuel supplies and other areas.
Taking into account the planned purchase of Qazaq Air by the Vietnamese company Sovico Group and plans to improve international flights, special attention at the meeting was paid to cooperation on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production projects, carbon credits.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to create special groups between KazMunayGas and Sovico to work out the discussed issues in more detail.

Sovico Group is a leading investment group in Vietnam, founded in the 1990s, operating in finance, banking, aviation, real estate, energy and digital transformation. In recent years, the company has been actively developing cooperation with Kazakhstan, having signed agreements in the transportation and logistics, finance, oil and gas and mining sectors. Sovico Group also plans to acquire the Kazakh airline QAZAQ AIR JSC, 100% of which is owned by the Samruk-Kazyna Foundation. At present the final terms of the deal on realization of shares of the airline are being worked out with the Vietnamese investor.
