‘KazMunayGas-Aero and BioOperations LLP signed a framework agreement on the implementation of a project for the production of environmentally amicable aviation fuel – SAF

KazMunayGas-Aero LLP (a subsidiary of KazMunayGas) and BioOperations LLP signed a framework agreement on 8 November on the joint implementation of the project for the production of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).

The document was signed on 8 November following the results of a round table held at the site of KazMunayGas-Aero LLP in Almaty as part of the ICAO regional seminar ‘Green Airports’. Earlier, the international consulting company ICF recommended the Kazakh side to start production of SAF using ATJ (Alcohol-to-Jet) technology, given the availability of raw materials – bioethanol produced by BioOperations LLP.

The domestic plant BioOperations, located in the city of Taiynsha, North Kazakhstan region, is the flagship of deep grain processing in the region. The main advantage of the plant is the availability of raw material base.

The convenient location along major roads and railways optimizes logistics.   Bioethanol produced by BioOperations is a biofuel derived from plant raw materials. It is a high quality, renewable and environmentally amicable fuel source whose consumption is growing globally and is widely used in the European Union. BioOperations exports bioethanol to EU countries and the UK.

The Taiynsha plant uses various types of grain to produce bioethanol. It also processes by-products of deep grain processing, such as gluten and starch.
