KazMunayGas Launches Large-Scale Investment Project at Aktobe Airport

At Aktobe International Airport, a modern refueling complex (RFC) will be built under the initiative of KazMunayGas – Aero (KMG-Aero, a subsidiary of KazMunayGas National Company). The details of the RFC project and the construction of a logistics hub were discussed at a meeting held in Aktobe, attended by the Akim of Aktobe Region, Askhats Shakharov, focused on airport development.

The initiative to build the RFC is fully aligned with the President’s directive on developing Kazakhstan’s transit potential and forming a network of multimodal hubs aimed at strengthening the country’s position as a key logistics link in the Eurasian region.

The RFC project, developed by KMG-Aero, is aimed at creating modern infrastructure for the storage and refueling of aviation fuel, including Jet A-1 fuel, which is planned to be introduced in all airports across Kazakhstan in the future. Investments in the RFC will amount to 6 billion tenge, with the commissioning scheduled for 2027.

The RFC will include an oil base with tanks for storing up to 20,000 cubic meters of aviation fuel. A railway-connected warehouse equipped with a ramp for 8 rail tankers will also be included. An operational warehouse at the airport apron, with a capacity of 800 cubic meters of fuel, will ensure quick refueling of aircraft. Modern fuel tankers will be acquired for the complex’s needs, one of which has already been put into operation at Aktobe Airport, with another to be delivered in the coming months. The project will occupy a land area of 11 hectares.

In parallel with the RFC, a multi-functional logistics hub project is being implemented at Aktobe Airport in partnership with the Turkish company S Sistem Lojistik Hizmetler A.S. and KazPost JSC. The parties have signed a memorandum of cooperation for the development of the airport’s cargo infrastructure. The Turkish company has already begun the construction of the hub.
