Discussions on the forum were the reduction of emissions by the aviation industry (Fly Net Zero 2050), opportunities for the production of sustainable (green) aviation fuel in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan’s transition to Jet A-1 jet fuel, the impact of geopolitical tensions and economic sanctions on the development of the transit potential of Central Asia. One of the main objectives of the forum was to unite the efforts of the Central Asian aviation community to develop a Roadmap for civil aviation industry taking into account global trends in the aviation fuel market. Фотка 2.jpg – Today we are holding the Kazakhstan Aviation Talks for the first time. We believe that the decisions taken at today’s meeting will develop the aviation fuel supply market and increase the level of sustainability in Central Asia, and the governments and state bodies of Central Asia will take our proposals into account when developing strategies be elaborated, said Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Chairman of the Board of “NC “KazMunayGas” JSC. Фотка 3.jpg – Kazakhstan will have to study the possibility of producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This will increase the attractiveness of regional airports for international carriers (by 2030, European airlines are aimed to switch to SAF either totally or partially/ or Today, all major refineries of the Republic of Kazakhstan are ready to produce fuel of the (JET A-1) brand, which meets international standards and is used in many countries around the world. The use of this type of fuel will demand new conditions at the refueling complexes of the airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and will allow the Kazakhstan aviation industry to comply with international standards in the field of safety and quality of services. KazMunayGas will also consider the possibility of producing SAF fuel so that Kazakhstan can be an attractive transit air hub for international carriers, – said Ildar Shamsutdinov, General Director of KMG-Aero.   In 2022, Kazakhstan adopted the Concept for the Development of Transport and Logistics Potential until 2030. An important condition for the development of air transportation is the provision of jet fuel and its competitive price. There are three oil refineries in the country, which ensure the production of 700 thousand tons of jet fuel per year, which fully covers the needs of national air carriers. As part of the event, a number of memorandums of understanding on various aviation subject were signed between Kazakhstani and international companies. Within the Forum, the representatives of UK office of the S&P Global Commodity Insights held a workshop methodology of Platts quotations and its application to aviation fuel pricing.
