As part of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayevto France, JSC NC KazMunayGas and the International Company Axens signed a Framework agreement. The document was signed by the head of KMG Askhat Khasenov and Chairman of the Board of Axens Quentin Debuisschert.
The agreement is aimed at expanding mutually beneficial partnership. The companies plan to jointly explore the possibility of producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Kazakhstan.
CEO of KMG noted that the partnership with Axens will allow attracting investments in the country’s energy sector, introducing advanced technologies and producing high-quality fuel that meets modern environmental standards.
Axens technologies related to the production of renewable fuels will be considered as part of the planned feasibility study of the project “Production of sustainable aviation fuel in the Republic of Kazakhstan” in 2024-2025.
A preliminary feasibility study of the SAF production complex construction project in our country has already been successfully carried out with the participation of KMG’s subsidiary KazMunayGas – Aero LLP and Air Astana JSC. The next stage will be the development of a feasibility study of the project.
Askhat Khasenov and Quentin Debuisschertalso held a bilateral meeting, discussing issues of technical cooperation in the field of oil refining.
SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) produced from renewable resources that are not oil-related. In contrast to conventional jet fuel, SAF reduces carbon emissions by80% in its pure form.
