Aviation Hub Development: KazMunayGas-Aero Launches Investment Project in Aktobe

KazMunayGas-Aero, a subsidiary of JSC NC “KazMunayGas”, has commenced the practical implementation of an investment project to construct a new aviation fuel storage and refueling facility at Aktobe Airport. The project is currently in its initial phase, with geotechnical surveys underway to thoroughly assess soil properties and groundwater levels. These studies aim to ensure the highest standards of safety and durability for future industrial infrastructure.

Following the completion of these engineering and geological works, the main construction phase will begin.

This project is being carried out in line with the strategic objectives outlined by the Head of State and represents a key milestone in transforming Aktobe Airport into a modern international hub.

The new refueling complex will enable the servicing of aircraft with not only traditional RT and TS-1 fuels but also Jet A-1 — a globally in-demand aviation fuel. Transitioning to this international standard is essential for Kazakhstan’s integration into the global air transport network and is a prerequisite for the future adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

The investment project includes the construction of two operational phases.

Phase one involves the development of a mobile refueling facility with a capacity of up to 600 cubic meters and the acquisition of two fuel tankers.

Phase two will focus on building the main infrastructure: a fuel tank farm with a total storage capacity of 20,200 cubic meters, a railway loading/unloading overpass, and a dispatch control center.

The total investment in the project is estimated at approximately 5 billion tenge. Once completed, the project is expected to create over 50 permanent jobs. This initiative will significantly enhance Aktobe Airport’s role as a full-fledged aviation hub, strengthening Kazakhstan’s position as a key transit center in Central Asia.
