Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas Askhat Hasenov held a meeting with the management of the American technology company LanzaJet and Japanese investment company Mitsui (Mitsui).
At the meeting the possibility of creating in Kazakhstan the production of environmentally friendly aviation fuel (SAF) was discussed.
Preliminary feasibility study of the project for construction of SAF production complex in Kazakhstan has already been successfully conducted on the joint initiative of KMG and Air Astana JSC with the financial assistance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The next stage is planned to develop a feasibility study of the project.
Also, three major refineries of KazMunaiGas are ready to produce Jet A-1 jet fuel, which will allow blending it with SAF in the future.
Following the results of the meeting, LanzaJet and Mitsui companies expressed their interest in joint implementation of the project with KMG.
